If you have any equity in your home, you may be able to take out a home equity loan to pay off your creditors. You’ll still owe the same amount, but with a loan, you’ll have just one payment, and at a much lower interest rate. Don’t fall into an all familiar trap however. Many people that pay off credit card debt with this method find themselves using their cards again and ending up in the same spot again…but now with a huge home equity loan too.
What About Bankruptcy?
Bankruptcy is an option. Terrible to your credit score, but you will get a fresh start. There are different types of bankruptcy, and which would suit your situation depends on many factors. You can file bankruptcy yourself, or hire an attorney. Do yourself a favor and hire the attorney.
